Vráble

Historical background

Thirty Roma from Vráble and the surrounding area were deported to Dachau. Later the women were transported to Ravensbrück and the men to Buchenwald. Only five women and four men survived the camp and returned to Vráble after the war.  Fr. Viktor Tomčányi, the initiator of the memorial, conducted a query of the Dachau museum archives to find out the details about what happened to them.

Description of commemoration

The memorial consists of a small cuboid-shaped column to which a black stone plaque with sandblasted, gilded inscriptions and a graphic element without gilding have been screwed. Braided barbed wires form the shape of a cross.
