Description of commemoration
In 2000, at the initiative of Jan Korzeniowski, president of the Social and Cultural Association of the Roma in the Republic of Poland, works on the construction of a “Mausoleum of the Roma” were started at the municipal cemetery in Koźle at ul. Cmentarna. The memorial was designed in 1998 by the artist Adam Zbiegieni and its aim was to commemorate the Roma murdered by the Germans. The memorial’s construction was delayed, but eventually it was completed.
