Description of commemoration
The exhibition is located in one room, on the first floor of the Frank Loebsche Haus. To reach it, you must pass all exhibition halls devoted to the history of Jews in Landau.
The exhibition about the Sinti and Roma in the Rhineland-Palatinate region consists of 24 boards in German. It presents information about survivors, the beginnings of the Gypsy movement related to the knowledge and commemoration of the Gypsy Extermination, and about the history of the Sinti from Landau and the region since 1933, through subsequent anthropological research, war stories of selected families, the case of children from the kindergarten in Mulfingen. The exhibition also provides information about KL Auschwitz and death.
The exhibition also includes a stone sculpture depicting a fallen, crouched man. The sculpture bears the similarity of workmanship to the plaques in Düseldorf (Höherweg / Posenerstraße), Heidelberg (Steingasse) and Asperg, and the memorial in Wiesbaden, probably made by the same sculptor-mason Josef Reinhardt. The sculpture at the exhibition, however, is not signed. I was unable to find out who its author is in Galerie Z either.
