Trochtelfingen/Wilsingen (memorial stone)
Historical background
The Reinhardt family was in hiding in the forest between Wilsingen and Steinhilben. In 1941, 13 people from that family were transported to Auschwitz. The witness was ten-year-old John Reinhardt, who was collecting brushwood near their hideout. He survived and later initiated erecting a memorial to commemorate those events.
Description of commemoration
The memorial stone with the plaque is located on the road K6739 between Trochtelfingen (2.8 km from the centre of Steinhilben) and Wilsingen, at a parking bay on the edge of the forest, on the left, slightly higher than the road. It is just over 1 meter high and is mounted on a concrete foundation. The memorial stone has the shape of an irregular triangle. The upper left part probably has a residual ammonite print.
The plaque with the inscription is a bronze cast with protruding letters. The inscription is in German.
